OnFire Big Band

 

OnFire Big Band is a Christian Jazz big band from Australia playing a range of jazz styles from Swing to Latin, Funk to Blues, soul-searching Ballads to Gospel.

OnFire Big Band's gig list includes such prestigious events as the Manly Jazz Festival, the Youth in Swing concert series, Godfest 2002, Castle Hill Small Business Awards, touring NSW North Coast, Victoria and South Queensland with James Morrison, a tour of New Zealand’s South Island, and concerts with Ralph Carmichael, Francine Bell, James Morrison and The Idea of North.

In 2000, OnFire Big Band released their self-titled debut CD and in 2002, they have released a 2nd CD (Jazz with Heat and Direction). This is a LIVE recording of a performance with jazz genius James Morrison and a cappella jazz quartet The Idea of North.

2004 finds OnFire recording their third album,"Unfinished Business" recorded by John Morrison and launched on November 1st at Sydney's prestigious live music venue The Basement with special guest Emma Pask.

Stewart Gott, one of the trumpet players for the group shares,  "Over the past 12 years we have been playing jazz for Jesus.  We play arrangements from many of the arrangers in the Christian Jazz Artist Network - like John Carlson and Denver Bierman. We are keen to spread the gospel of Christ through the personal expression of jazz. "
