The Riverbend Church Big Band is a group that has grown out of the Creative Arts ministry at Riverbend Church in Austin, Texas. ( The Pastor is Dr. Gerald Mann)

Many of the instrumentalists in the band are accomplished jazz musicians and arrangers. Carlton Dillard is the director of Riverbend Church Big Band as well as the entire music and media ministries at Riverbend Church (including the 200+ voice Chorale and numerous vocal and instrumental ensembles.

Dillard is known across the country for his innovative use of all styles of music in the church setting. He is in much demand as a conference speaker and clinician. He also an accomplished composer, arranger and producer with many songs and arrangements currently being used by churches across the US.

Carlton shares that," exposure to all kinds of music has led me to know that Christian music is my calling. I truly feel God has led me in this ministry, and continues to do so."  Inspiring others to achieve their best is one of Carlton's special gifts, whether it is a small ensemble, a choir or a congregation. He can energize, excite and motivate people, as well as "get the point home." His heartfelt performances reflect his belief.

The Riverbend Church Big Band recently appeared and recorded, "live" on Randy Phillips, "The Awakening" television program. The resulting CD features not only a very sharp Big Band playing some great " jazzed up" hymns and Jazz/Gospel tunes but also features guest vocal appearances by Dave Boyer and Randy Phillips.
