Hunting Wabbits:
Gordon's tour-de-force, tongue-in-cheek tribute to cartoons is stellar!
The mixing of legit and powerhouse swing makes this chart a show
stopper. Soprano sax lead for the saxes throughout and some feisty a
capella sections will keep any experienced band on the edge of its
seats. Solo space for soprano, tenor, trumpet, and trombone along with
percussion parts and an optional synth part for the keyboard. As
recorded on the Silverline Records album XXL/ (CD and DVD Audio) by
Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band. |
Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes: As recorded on the newest CD by the Big Phat Band, this chart is turbo-charged tongue-in-cheek Gordon Goodwin style. Gordon shows his amazing ability to develop a simple theme with this piece based on the theme from the movie 'Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.' If you have a strong bass trombone player, this chart is for you. Solo space is given to alto, tenor, and trombone. The score calls for soprano sax double in the lead alto part and flute and piccolo in the 2nd alto part (could be transposed) and two auxiliary percussion parts. Clever and exciting! |
|
Get In Line:
Funky! Gordon Goodwin is the hottest writer on the scene today. The Big
Phat Band is modern, hip, exciting, fresh, and captivating to listen to
-- and here is the real thing as performed/recorded by the Big Phat
Band. Solos available for alto, tenor, trumpet, and bone. A percussion
part is included along with an optional vibe part. On this one, Gordon
included an optional flute and clarinet part if you want to expand the

as many of Gordon's fabulous charts. As recorded on the newest CD by
Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band, The Phat Pack on Silverline Records.
Excellent writing! |
Cut 'N Run: This
swinger is like a high-wire act requiring speed, agility and the
horsepower. Brilliant composer/arranger Gordon Goodwin penned this rapid
tempo chart for his Big Phat Band and is recorded on his newest CD, The
Phat Pack on Silverline Records. High energy throughout with optional
solos for alto, tenor, trumpet and bones. Standard instrumentation. Hot! |
|
La Almeja Pequeña:
The title reflects typical Gordon Goodwin humor in this exciting Latin
chart. A Latin percussion part is included and will definitely further
enhance this very hip Latin extravaganza. Solos available for alto,
tenor, trumpet and bone. Calls for soprano sax but optional alto sax
part is included. As recorded on the newest CD by Gordon Goodwin's Big
Phat Band, The Phat Pack on Silverline Records. No clams here! |
A Few Good Men: Today's hottest writer, Gordon Goodwin delivers again. In a clever rock-march style, the melody of this big band chart develops thoroughly then leads into a solo section for alto, tenor, trumpet, trombone, or guitar. After the solos, the rhythm section backs off for a wild and wooly ensemble chorus that will challenge all the players in the band. A percussion part is included. You'll recognize this chart from the fabulous CD Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band: Swingin' For the Fences. |
|
There's The Rub:
Gordon Goodwin's stellar reputation as a writer is well deserved. A
funky half-time shuffle groove for big band, Gordon's clever opening
melody statement is played by altos and trumpets with solo space
provided for piano, alto, or tenor sax. The burnin' shout chorus will
make this an all time favorite chart for every library. Percussion part
included. As recorded on Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band: Swingin' for
the Fences. This chart grooves! |
Count Bubba's Revenge: Revenge is very sweet! Gordon Goodwin is the hot writer of today's big band charts and this arrangement proves it. Count Bubba's Revenge/ features a shuffle swing that builds and builds. On top of that, it showcases all the sections by trading back and forth, playing a cappella, and so on. Standard instrumentation -- no doubles. (6:24) |
|
High Maintenance: A swingin' shuffle composed and arranged by Gordon Goodwin. Building continuously, this chart offers solos space for alto, tenor, trumpet, trombone, and piano. A hot sax soli will keep all the saxes real busy and the bari player has some nice solo lines, too. Plenty of sass, blend, and spunky attitude prevail throughout this challenging and very hot chart. As recorded by Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band on the new CD Off the Beaten Path./ Perfect for festival or concert. A vibe part is included along with an optional flute on 1st tenor sax. |
Horn Of Puente: A cha cha you won't forget! Trumpet is featured in this fabulous chart by today's hottest contemporary writer, Gordon Goodwin. The trumpet soloist has plenty of space to solo - both improvised and written and there are hot unison lines throughout this high-energy composition to keep everyone thinking. The piano has an authentic Latin ostinato, 1st alto sax has a soprano and flute doubles (optional alto sax part included), and a percussion part is provided. by Gordon, THIS CHART SWINGS. Jazz for alto 1 and an optional flute
double for alto 2. If you have a hot, experienced band, this chart is
for you! |
Whodunnit?:
Another Gordon Goodwin work of art. Commissioned by New Trier High
School, Jim Warrick, director, this is sort of a bluesy-swing chart with
a huge shout chorus. Optional vibe/xylophone/percussion part and an
optional flute part on 2nd alto part. Demands a strong sax section and
has a powerful shout chorus. As performed by Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat
Band. Wonderful chart! |
|

section and a soli. Scored for saxophone quintet and rhythm section, the
instrumentation is soprano, alto, tenor 1, tenor 2, and baritone. Rhythm
parts are for guitar, piano, bass, and drums. |
Swingin' For The Fences: Medium Advanced to Difficult. Based on the changes to "Sweet Georgia Brown," Swingin' for the Fences can be fast or if you have the horses, really fast. In this Gordon Goodwin original, the solo section provides space for alto, tenor, trumpet, trombone, and piano or vibes. The title says it all when the full ensemble gets its wish - a rompin', stompin' tutti section that will put your band on the map. The Jazz Hymnal is the first of its kind in the publishing world and is the perfect addition to the library of church music. It offers the church musician a unique selection of songs, both original compositions and traditional hymnody in harmonically-enhanced jazz/pop arrangement that challenge both the players and the listeners beyond the usual diatonic realm. The look of the book and arrangements is very professional and will be appreciated when read by musicians. There are even suggestions about where to add improvised solos and some innovative ideas about congregational involvement. All of these tunes work well for both congregations and musicians. They have been tested with various congregations and musicians and have won the approval of both. Included are 51 songs written in several different formats that include jazz lead sheets, piano scoring, reduced conductor score, and even in some instances, full arrangements that include horn parts. The original compositions have lyrics and are easily learned by your congregations. In fact, the congregations love singing these songs, since they are fun and hip; they're always theologically sound and spiritually relevant to modern church themes. You will find beautiful new ballads and great new grooves such as hip-hop, reggae, samba and more. And your musicians will dig playing them. Also included with the Jazz Hymnal is a CD sampler of 12 recorded songs found in the hymnal. These songs can be found on "Listen, the Music of Sanctuary Jazz" and "The Call." $30.00
