Todd's career has provided a variety of experiences––a Dove
Award nomination, music on film/television, appearances on best-seller
lists, radio airplay, and performances by a major symphony.
Not only is Todd a
keyboard player and arranger extraordinaire but Todd has also produced two
of the finest CD's containing Jazz arrangements of Hymns! The
group's name is Causeway – and they put their contemporary spin of
jazz, samba, guajira, and even a little mambo with favorite hymns of
yesterday. Billingsley sought out five studio musicians from the South
Florida area that shared a strong faith in God and a passion for
music! Rey Sánchez, (music director and producer for Sony artists
Cheyenne and Braulio;) Fofi Lancha,( drummer for the TV show Sabado
Gigante); Ken Kosicki, (bass player who has toured with Wayne Watson);
and Ed Maina,( sax player who has toured with Natalie Cole and Frank
Sinatra). With the addition of percussionist, Cookie
Lopez., (who had just finished touring with Gloria Estefan and the Miami
Sound Machine!)
Their signature of
" smooth-yet-hot " blend of contemporary jazz and Latin music is
indeed hot! Causeway has released two CDs – the first was the self-entitled Causeway
released in 1996, and the second Unconditional Love Jazz
in 2001.
"I consider Todd's jazz hymn
arrangements some of the very best that you can find...they are the 'cream
of the crop' for this genre. The charts are well written and a perfect fit
for use in the church"!
The Causeway CD's are both classic recordings as
well - they are a 'must have' if you love jazzed up hymns"! - David
